Treatments & Fees

What treatment is available on the NHS?
Under the NHS, we will provide all necessary treatment which we consider to be appropriate to secure your oral health.  The NHS will not pay for treatment required for purely cosmetic reasons.  Dental implants are also unavailable.  Orthodontic treatment is available on referral for patients under 18.  The orthodontist will only be able to offer NHS orthodontic care to those with a certain level of treatment need or complexity.

NHS Treatment Prices
NHS dental charges are set by the Welsh Government.  As a practice we collect the charges and pass them onto our Local Health Board.  When you pay for your treatment you will be given a receipt.  The practice is entitled to ask you to pay before you receive your treatment.
NHS charges are split into four bands according to the treatment required:

(Repairs to dentures remain free of charge.  If you lose or damage your dentures beyond repair, it will cost £58.50 to replace them.)
We will endeavour to provide patients with written treatment plans and estimates for all Band 2 and Band 3 treatments.

Exemptions from NHS charges
If you fall into any of these categories when a course of treatment starts you will not need to pay for your NHS dental treatment:

Or if you get, or are included in, an award of someone getting:

Other benefits such as Incapacity benefit, Personal Independence Payment, Armed Forces Independence Payment or Disability Living Allowance don't entitle you to help with health costs because they are not income related.

Dental examinations are free in Wales if:

Any subsequent treatment as a result of the free examination carries the appropriate charge.
For advice on exemptions, you should contact NHS Wales on 0845 063 1108.
IT IS YOUR RESPONSIBILITY TO ENSURE THAT YOU ARE ENTITLED TO FREE TREATMENT AND TO COMPLETE THE NHS FORMS APPROPRIATELY.  THE NHS CHECKS MOST OF THE CLAIMS FOR FREE TREATMENT AND WILL USUALLY FINE SOMEONE MAKING AN INAPPROPRIATE CLAIM.
